Overview of Elimu Scholarship Programme 2026
The Kenya Ministry of Education through the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation (JKF) is offering the Elimu Scholarship throughout the fourty seven (47) counties of Kenya with the aim to reach the needed and vulnerable yet potential learners willing to join senior school in 2026.
This also covers Refugee learners residing in Kakuma, Kalobeyei and Dadaab refugee camps, and were learning in UNHCR supported schools. Applicant must have either “meeting expectation” or “Exceeding Expectation) in the 2025 KJSEA assessment.
Note: Candidates with special needs or disability can also apply.
Further vulnerability state for applicants includes the following;
- He or she is an orphan
- Learners from urban informal settlements
- Those whose guardian or parent are living with disabilities.
- Families affected by HIV/AIDS.
- Those from families below the poverty line.
- Learners who have suffered abuse, neglect and have no financial support to continue with studies.

Is Elimu Scholarship Shortlisted Candidates 2026 Out?
As of January 2026 when this article was written, the Kenya Ministry of Education (MOE) did not release the list of beneficiaries for the Elimu Senior School Scholarship programme. Meanwhile, applicants are to keep an eye on the application portal www.scholarship.jkf.co.ke or Ministry’s portal www.education.go.ke.
