Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB) emerged in 2011 as a State Corporation through the Veterinary Surgeon and Veterinary Paraprofessionals (VSVP) Act.

The main function of this board is to oversee and control the training, business, practice and employment of Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Paraprofessioanls in Kenya and then offer substantial advice to the Government in these areas.

Requirements for Kenya Veterinary Board Recruitment 2026

The general requirements to gain employment for the aforementioned vacancies are as follows.

Applicant must be a Kenyan citizen with a valid National Identity Card or Passport.
Candidate should currently reside in Kenya.
Must hold the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with at least a D+ mean grade including English and Kiswahili languages.
Must possess valid clearance documents/certificates from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), Ethic and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) etc.

Qualifications for KVB Job Vacancies 2026/2027

1. Manager, Quality Assurance

Holder of this position must have at least 12-years professional work experience or previously serve as an Assistant Manager Education, Licensing or Registration for 4 years.
Candidate should hold a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from an accredited institution.
Candidate must be registered with the Kenya Veterinary Board and shall present the membership certificate.
Completing a six weeks certificate course in Strategic Leadership Development or Corporate Management is mandatory.

2. Manager Compliance and Enforcement

Candidates interested in this role must possess at least twelve (12) years’ work experience.
He or she must have completed a Veterinary Master’s and Bachelor’s degree programme in any accredited institution.
Attending leadership or management course of at least six (6) weeks is mandatory.

3. Manager Finance, Human Resource and Administration

This role is most suitable for candidates with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or Finance.
Applicant must have a minimum of 12 years professional experience including holding a managerial post.
Candidate must be a registered and recognized member of relevant professional body.
Must have completed professional leadership training.
Should be proficient in computer applications.

4. Veterinary Inspector

This position is most suitable for candidates with Bachelors of Veterinary Medicine or animal health.
Candidate must have graduated from a recognized and accredited tertiary institution.
Should be fully registered with the Kenya Veterinary Board and possess a valid certificate.

5. Driver

Applicant must hold mean grade D in KCSE.
Should possess current driving license.
Must have passed the Suitability Test for Drivers Grade II.
Must have complete the First-Aid Certificate course that lasted at least one (1) week.
Must have an accumulative four (4) years of relevant work experience.
