Requirements for Ministry of Agriculture Recruitment 2026

Below are the fundamentals all applicants of this recruitment exercise must meet.

  • Nationality: Prospective applicant must be a citizen of Kenya with valid National Identity Card or Passport. Should as well reside in the country.
  • Age: 18 – 35 years is the approved entry age bracket for Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock job vacancies.
  • Education: Applicant should hold the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with at least D+ mean grade, a Diploma or Degree from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Clearance: In compliance with chapter six of Kenya constitution, shortlisted candidates shall present current copies of HELB, KRA, DCI, CRB, and EACC clearance certificates.

1. Agricultural Livelihood Specialist

  • Interested applicant must hold at least a Degree or equivalent qualification in Agriculture, Agribusiness or a closely related discipline.
  • He or she must possess seven (7) or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Candidate must be proficient in computer packages such as MS office, SPSS, STATA etc.
  • Should possess good analytical, strategic thinking and communication skills.

2. Livestock Specialist

  • Persons interested in this position must be a graduate of Animal Science, Animal Production or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • He or she must possess nothing less than seven (7) years of relevant work experience.
  • Applicants with experience in establishing link of farmer produce marketing groups with markets.
  • Must be able to draft technical requirements for the procurement of livestock inputs.

3. Agronomy Specialist

  • Prospective applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Agronomy, Biotechnology or Agriculture etc.
  • Should possess excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience.

4. Infrastructure Specialist

  • Ideal candidate for this position must hold a Bachelor’s degree in either Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • He or she must be a registered member of the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
  • Possessing experience in areas such as Planning, Designing and Implementation of infrastructure is a vital advantage.
  • Candidate must be proficient in engineering applications such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Microsoft Office packages.

5. Financial Controller

  • Ideal candidate for this position must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K).
  • Should be a registered member f any relevant professional accounting body.
  • Must have complete a Degree programme in either Business Administration, Finance, or Commerce.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years relevant work experience is required.
  • Candidate must be conversant wit GoK budgeting and accounting procedures.
  • Should possess excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and Accounting packages.

6. Animal Husbandry Assistant III

  • Prospective applicant must have a form four certificate of grade D
  • Must have completed a First Aid training of at least one (1) weeks.
  • Should be proficient in relevant computer packages and must be physically fit.
