Requirements for Kenya Ports Authority Recruitment 2026

Here are the eligibility criteria prospective applicants of this recruitment exercise must possess.

  • ID Card: It is expected that candidates applying must be Kenyan citizens and as well possess a valid National Identity Card or Passport.

In addition to the above general requirements, below are the role specified qualifications:

1. Artisan (Mechanical)

  • Persons interested in this position must possess KCSE or equivalent.
  • Must be proficient in relevant computer applications.
  • Should possess a valid Government Trade Test III or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Candidate must be a seafarer or possess Discharge Book.

2. Artisan (Electrical)

  • Applicant must possess Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with at least D+ mean grade.
  • Should be proficient in seafarer, relevant computer application and a valid Government Trade Test III etc.

3. Technician (Mechanical)

  • Persons who seek to apply for this role must possess a Diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil or Marine Engineering etc.
  • Applicant must as well possess KCSE or equivalent qualification.
  • Candidate should be conversant with relevant computer applications.

4. Technician (Civil)

  • Persons who seek to apply for this role must possess a Diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil or Marine Engineering etc.

5. Technician (Shift)

6. Assistant Ferry Master

  • Persons interested in this position must have a Diploma in Nautical Studies from an accredited institution.
  • Applicant must have a minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience.
  • Applicant must have professional training in Safety.
  • Possess Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) Radio Certificate.
  • Valid Medical certificate issued by Regulatory Agency (KMA) etc.

7. Coxswain II (Seaman)

  • Candidate must possess C+ Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
  • Should possess a minimum of three (3) years’ experience as Sailor I.
  • Should possess the Coxswain II craft/Master Class 3 etc.
